Fed 2019. Naturally dyed black cotton muslin, cotton thread. Appliquéd and hand quilted.
The design began as a papercut, folded, cut once, opened into symmetry. What unfolded was a form that kept returning to its center: the relentless cycle of feeding a newborn, by breast and by pump.
The hand quilting follows that logic. Stitches radiate outward from the middle, tracing the movement of milk to a mouth, to a machine, back to the body again.
Feeding labor is mostly invisible. Fed makes it monumental.
