The pattern is from 1974. Tent-like, formless, designed to cover. It gave pregnant women room to move through the world without their bodies becoming the subject.
The fabric is silk organza. It conceals nothing.
What it reveals is the body after, drained of milk, delivered of weight, still marked by both. The pleats and gathers trace where the body expanded and where it didn't return. This is the body that goes unshown.
